1945
- Separation of Berlin into four sectors

1946
- Securing of the demarcation line (Green Zone) by Soviet occupying
  powers and the implementation of an inter-zone-permit

1946       
- Berlin is divided into currency zones. (Deutsch-Mark, East-Mark)

1948       
- Blockade of Berlin and introduction of an air lift, in order to secure
  provisions for West-Berlin

1949      
- Lifting of the blockade, founding of the two states FRG and GDR

1952       
- East-West borders closed, only the borders of Berlin’s sectors remain   passable

1961        
- Closure of all borders including those of Berlin’s sectors.
  Construction of The Berlin Wall begins.

1963       
- Introduction of visitor’s permits for West-Berliners to East-Berlin

1971       
- Four-power agreement, introduction of travel facilitation

1989       
- The Hungarian border to Austria is opened for refugees of the GDR,
   fall of The Berlin Wall, The Brandenburg Gate is opened.

- Official German Reunification
